Based in Los Angeles, John Carey has composed and arranged music for Hollywood films and television since 2013. With a background in both formal music composition training and work in various rock bands, John's music draws from a wide inspiration of styles, genres and musical concepts. His approach for finding each film's musical voice is with a balance of musicality, psychology and gut instinct. His favorite musical buzz words are "Iconic," "Negative space" and "Tuneful." John's two biggest passions are film and the orchestra, and his career has afforded him the opportunity to work with both, bringing a life of play and creativity.

 

He is a frequent collaborator with Hollywood composer Brian Tyler, working on some of Hollywood's biggest blockbusters. As an independent composer, he has many indie films, short films and two large studio features under his belt: The Escape Room film series from Sony/Columbia Pictures.
